Covered, Uncovered to Recovery in Christ

The three main divisions of this work are Covered, Uncovered, and Recovery in Christ Jesus. The acronym I’ve made for the word PROCESS, each letter represents a word that explains my process during the Covering, Uncovering, and Recovering stages of my life. It is my thesis that these components and stages in my life are cyclical at every level of my growth as a human being. They outline my story of how God led me out of things in my life that were dead and obstructing my ability to grow emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Jesus is the Light unto my path that leads me out of layers of darkness into his marvelous light. I use my voice in poetry. The Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, fully deserves all the honor and glory for these lyrical and descriptive testimonies to his infinite loving-kindness, grace, and mercy.

I. Covered—The first division

Covering something means to put something over it, especially to conceal or hide it. My soul, where my emotions reside, is where I keep my strongholds, dysfunctions, and covert trauma. I felt that everything I thought about myself was inadequate. I struggled to understand my identity and where I belonged. I attempted to suppress my emotions and conform to others’ expectations. However, the people and things I thought I was protecting myself from ended up suffocating me and destroying my sense of self, and I allowed it.

II. Uncovered—The second division

To make known, bring to light, disclose, or reveal anything that is to be “uncovered.” To reveal the truth, to open, or to make visible by taking off a covering. My covering had caused me great suffering. My morals and way of thinking were tied to the outside world, and my hidden secrets prevented me from being the person God intended me to be. I was sick inside, and I was dying. I needed to alter my mind, and to do so, I had to face the inner issues that had caused me to become dysfunctional. Awareness was my first step to becoming a whole person. I had to admit that I needed God and surrender to Jesus Christ as the Lord of my life.

III. Recovery in Christ—The third division

Returning to a regular level of health or strength is known as recovery. It can also refer to reclaiming ownership or control of something lost or stolen. In Christianity, recovery has a deeper meaning related to life and death. According to Christian belief, humans were born with a sinful nature due to the fall of Adam. Redemption from this sinful nature was made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Savior. His death on the cross is seen as atonement for the sins of humanity, with his shed blood serving as payment for the penalty of sin, which is death. The belief is that through his sacrifice, Jesus reconciled humanity with God, and those who believe in him will receive salvation. According to this belief, Jesus is the only solution for a troubled soul, providing propitiation and acting as a substitute for individuals bearing the guilt of sin. His work on the cross is considered as reclaiming ownership of lost souls and saving them from the penalty of sin, ultimately redeeming them through love and their admission of the need for a Savior.
